I have the opportunity to buy a 4WD HST 4200 with a 420 loader and Gannon box for $10,500. It has relatively high hours at 1470, but it looks like it is in good shape. This price also includes a 10,000 lb dual-axle trailer. Does this sound like a good price? Thanks for any input.

It almost sound to good when you throw in the trailer at that price. That is also not knowing the condition of everything. If in good condition I would say it was a good deal. ....

I would echo wbowhunt. That sounds too good to be true. I would suggest CAREFULLY & THOROUGHLY checking this equipment out. If there are no problems with the equipment; you better grab that deal and run before they change their mind! ....

Thanks, I'm in a bit of a bind. It's posted on an online ad and its 900 miles away. So, I can't really go check it out too easily. Can you think of any questions you would ask the seller if you were in the same situation. He also told me he would throw in a 1976 F-600 flatbed truck for $1500 if I wanted to fly in. Some other info he told me, is that there are no oil leaks or hydraulics problems, and the tires have about 30-50% tread left. ....

Are there any photo's on the web ad?
A couple question that come to mind are
What was the tractor used for? Is he the original owner? Has there been any major repairs or rebuilds?
What material is the deck on the trailer? Wood? What condition? What type of hitch?
You say 900 miles away. I am no expert by any means, and am located in the panhandle of WV, but if it is somewhere closeer to me I could take a swing out and take some digital photo's and send them to you.
I have no underlying interest in trying to take this deal out from under you. Just offering to help out. ....

Ooops just looked at your profile and realized I don't think I would be close. But there may be someone else here on the board that may be willing to help you out. At that price though, If things are in good to decent shape I don't think it will last. ....
